For a Reason
“If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.”
Psalms 130:3-4 NIV
It is the love of God that we experience at the moment of salvation. At the same time, a mystery unfolds. For when we are saved our sins are forgiven, past, present, and future. This is not so mysterious as Christ died once, to pay for our sin. What is kind of interesting is that although we are dead to sin yet our flesh continues in sin. We battle with it all the days of our lives. Even though our sins are forgiven we are to confess our sins. We are told to forgive others or God will not forgive us. (Matt. 6:14-15) And here in the Psalms, we see that God does not keep a record of our transgressions. Yet we know that God does not forget. God does forgive us. He washes us clean with the blood of His Son. Jesus who we remember on this Easter weekend. The lamb of God who took our punishment and bore our pain. You see the price for our sin was an eternity in hell. Only the infinite and eternal Son of God could pay that price. Let us not forget that He did this not just so we could be saved. But so that we can serve. We are born into new life to serve our Lord and King. What an honor it is to live a new life. To know that heaven waits for us and an eternity with our Savior. Today remember the risen Christ.
