Going to Heaven

I’m going to Heaven

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Colossians 3:1-2 NIV

I’m going to Heaven, anyone know the address? Yes, as Christians we know where our forever home will be. But just exactly where is that?

First, Heaven is where God is. It is His center of operations, the location of His throne. (See Matt. 5:16, 5:34, 5:45, 6:1, 6:9, 7:11, 7:21, 10:32-33, 12:50 16:17 18:10) Its where Jesus is right now preparing a place for us. (Mark 16:19, I Peter 3:22, Eph. 1:20, Col. 3:1, Hebrews 12:2 and Rev. 5:7) And best of all its where Christians go when they leave this earthly body behind. Jesus has told us that He was preparing a place for us, that place will be our new home. (2 Cor. 5:6-9, Phil. 1:21-24, Luke 16:19-31, Hebrews 12:22-24 and Rev. 6:9-11)

So, Heaven is where God is, where Jesus is and it will soon be where we as Christians will be. As to its physical location, that we do not know. But I’m not worried about that for when I die angels will come and guide me home.

“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.”

Luke 16:22 NIV

As long as God leaves us here on this earth we are to do His will. Until the day we see our savior face to face let us keep our hearts and minds focused on Heaven.
