Faith Hope Love

FAITH, HOPE, LOVE

“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV

I have been thinking about love. It is love that is the greatest, but why? I can think of a few reasons but the one that struck me was this, love is the only one that lasts forever.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1 KJV

In heaven what will there be for us to hope for?  What would we be lacking or need? Nothing, so then there is nothing to hope for.  And what will we need faith for?  We have faith in promises, and in things we have not seen.

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

1 Corinthians 13:12 NIV

We will see our Lord face to face, no longer will we need faith for things will be revealed. Our God will walk with us and fellowship with us daily.

So then all that is left is love.

“And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT

So here it is, we have no idea how great God’s love is. Each day for all of eternity we will experience God’s love. Each day His love will pour day like a refreshing rain. It will fill us to overflowing love, just when we think we can take no more the next wave of love will sweep over us. When completely filled He will give us even more. For all of eternity, we will moment by moment experience His love greater and greater, and yet we will never experience the end of His love. Though we will have love as never before, in ways that we can not even imagine still each day will bring new overflowing love. Think of it for a moment just when we think we could experience no more He will shower love on us beyond what we could understand. God’s love is too great for us to understand and will last for all of eternity. And for all that time we will live filled beyond overflowing with His love.
