Repentance and Confession
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9 KJV
Origen, called confession the vomit of the soul. When a person has ingested something rotten or even poisonous they will frequently vomit. This is the body’s way of getting it out. So also the rotten poison of sin must be rid from the body. Confession is the process by which this is accomplished. After such confession when we have vomited up the sin we must not return as a dog would to its vomit.
“Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong.”
Isaiah 1:16 NIV
What sweet joy it is to come before the throne freshly washed. It is with peaceful rest that the clear conscious sleeps there is nothing better. Dear children live your life with a clean conscious, there is nothing finer to be had.
“Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.”
Isaiah 57:2 NIV
