The Truth
“Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.””
John 8:47 NIV
I was talking with my wife the other day and we started talking about people. Well, people and the truth. It seems that so many people cant see the truth even when its right before their eyes. Nowadays it’s hard to know what the truth is. Just the other day I see how the government tells us that inflation is under two percent. Yet, I go to the store to buy groceries and something does not seem right. Have any of you gone to Home Depot and tried to buy lumber? So how do we know the truth and why do some people not see the truth when it seems so clear. The answer is simple, we who know and see Truth because our Father is the giver of Truth. Those who can not see the truth are blind because their father is the father of lies. When a person rejects God they are rejecting the truth. You see to accept the truth requires accountability. If I refuse to be accountable then I must reject truth. How do people do this? When we chose our way and dismiss God’s way we are saying that I will be lord of my life and thus I get to determine what is true for me. And so we make truth subjective and “every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Judges 21:25 Each person can then have their own truth and then are only accountable to themselves.
When we make Jesus Lord of our life we give up subjective truth. And embrace objective truth, this truth come from outside of ourselves and brings an accountability. The more you look the more you will see, those who believe the lie. They are blind to the truth, but we should not be surprised. The reason they cannot hear the truth is because they do not belong to God. When you see these people it is time to pray. Some of these people even confess to be Christians. Yet if you do not hear it is because you do not belong. In these days let us pray fervently for the lost for the time is short yet the harvest is plentiful. Pray and then get to harvesting. Come Lord Jesus.
