Do You Wear Glasses?

“On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”

John 6:60-63 NIV

We all wear rose colored glasses.  They color the way we see the world.  To often we see temporal when we should see spiritual.  We see earthly when we should be looking to the heavenly.  This is exactly what had just happened.  Jesus had told them that He was the bread of life. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.””

John 6:51 NIV

This was a hard thing for them to understand especially because they had their temporal glasses on, while He was speaking spiritual. They could not see beyond the here and now.  Oh, how often do we do the same thing? While we live in a world we can see we act as if the unseen does not even exist.  Lord I pray that you open our eyes that we may see.  Take off the glasses and see the truth.  

We must eat the Word of Life.  For in this bread we find eternal life.
