Psalms (PT 15)
“I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.”
Psalms 119:125 NIV
If you think about it all major heresies come from a misunderstanding of God’s word. Some even go so far as to tell their followers not to study the Bible on their own. (Jehovahs Witness). Many believe that God’s Word is not understandable to the layman. I would disagree.
Although one can misunderstand and we should be care full to rightly divide the Bible. It is well within the grasp of any who would take the time. One of the keys is to start your study by asking the Spirit to guide you and lead as you study. As the psalmist we too should ask the Holy Spirit for discernment and understanding.
