Time

My Time

“In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.”

1 Kings 6:38 NIV

It took seven years for Solomon to complete the construction of the Temple. It was time and energy well spent. When we spend our time serving the Lord it is never in vain. Is there any more productive way to spend our time?

Think about all the things we do…only what is done for God will last. Unfortunately, most of us are like Solomon.

For in the very next verse what do we see.

“It took Solomon thirteen years, however, to complete the construction of his palace.”

1 Kings 7:1 NIV

The key word here is, “however” in the KJV it says, “But Solomon was building his own house thirteen years,”

You see the “however” is the fact that Solomon spent twice as much time and energy on his own house. No it was not wrong for Solomon to build a house. But lets be honest, we spend our time based upon priorities. In this case his own pursuits were a higher priority. So then I guess the question is, what are our priorities? If we are unsure all we have to do is look at how we spend our time.
