Psalms
After the other day’s post, some of you may be thinking… If God is so far beyond us why even spend time thinking about it? Well, I can think of a couple of reasons to ponder the wonders of God.
“How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them. Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails.”
Psalms 111:2-3 NLT
First, we are told that we should ponder the works and deeds of our God. It is good for us to get our focus off ourselves and onto something bigger than us. We spend too much of our lives thinking about “the old number one.” This world is designed to get us to think about ourselves. You see this in so many ways, people who are all puffed up with pride. People are obsessed with worldly pursuits. And on the other end of the spectrum, we have people who are depressed and even suicidal. Yet, is not even this an obsession with ourselves? Instead, we are told to think about God and His deeds. Second, we should be mindful of the fact that all God has done, is doing, and will do is designed to bring glory to our Lord. Even our own lives are to bring glory to God. When we reflect on all that He has done we glorify Him with our thoughts. Some day we will join with all of creation and together glorify our God. Why wait? …you can start today. Glorify our Lord with your thoughts and actions. Glorify Him by reflecting on the marvelous things He has done.
