Psalms

Psalms (PT 13)

When I think about God, I stop and wonder. Many people have doubts about God because there are things they do not understand. And as they cannot understand the mysteries of God then they deny the truths of God. I on the other hand stand amazed that we can know anything about God at all.

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Psalms 103:11-12 NIV

This God whose ways are so high above ours that we cannot comprehend them. This very same God has chosen to reveal Himself to us. In His word we find God using human words and ideas to describe Himself to us. Yet, even here our human understanding falls short. When God says His love for us is as high as the heavens are above the earth it is God’s use of human language. Yet this still falls short of adequately explaining His love. Some day in eternity we will have been there for millions of years and we will realize that God is still showing His great love for us. Eternity itself will fall short of the full revelation of God’s love.

That I was a human can even attempt to understand or describe this one attribute of our God is only due to His love.  We will see that day and better understand that not only does God’s love go beyond understanding.  But all of the attributes of God go beyond human comprehension.  When people reject God because they cannot understand some truth about Him.  We should ask, how is it that we can know anything about Him at all, except for His revelation. And even this is as tho thru a mirror darkly. May your heart join with mine and long for the day we see face to face.
