Feels Like Today
Dec. 28th
“Justice—do you rulers know the meaning of the word? Do you judge the people fairly? No! You plot injustice in your hearts. You spread violence throughout the land.”
Psalms 58:1-2 NLT
I was talking with a friend who has questions about the Bible. The topic of relevance came up. Is the Bible relevant to our world today? I think it is. Not only is it relevant but it’s more relevant today than it’s been in two thousand years. Two thousand years ago a baby was born and prophecies were fulfilled.
Today once again people are living in a time when prophecy is being fulfilled. Yet, two thousand years ago most people missed the signs. So also today most people are missing the signs. Here the Psalmist is talking about the times he was living in yet, today we see justice misused. We see the world going crazy. People who commit crimes are released and those who try to protect themselves from criminals and are arrested. We see lawlessness proclaiming justice and men of the law decried as evil. For those of you that have not picked up on it, this is a sign.
“Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction.
For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way.”
2 Thessalonians 2:3, 7 NLT
You cannot have a man of lawlessness without an increase of Lawlessness. We are living in a day when there is a great rebellion against God. If I dare say this rebellion has its very roots in our church. Our churches are filled with people who say they believe in God and the Bible yet at the same time live a life opposed to God’s Word. And we within the church are afraid to offend anyone and have looked the other way. If the church has lost its saltiness why are we surprised when the world grows darker. In this time, we watched the events unfold before we let ourselves shine our light into the world more brightly than ever before. It’s time to get our own house straight. And when I say that I mean first your own life, second help your family, third your church, and then shine into the world. Brothers and sisters do not be surprised by the things you see. Know that they must happen. If you, like me, have cheated and read the end of the Book, then it’s time to be ready. It’s time to help get as many others ready as possible. As a sailor looking at the sky sees the storm coming…we also as Christians could be able to look at the events and see the storm. Today is the day of salvation. Share the gospel the time is growing shorter each day.
