Christmas
“While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
Luke 2:6-7 NIV
It is the season when we celebrate Christmas. For me, it’s a time to enjoy my family. My daughters are loud and funny. My son is something of the opposite, he’s more like his dad. I am so blessed by God. Another Christmas, to recall the work of our God. Think about it for a moment. The God that created the universe. The God that cannot be contained within the universe took upon himself the form of a man. He made himself a single cell that grows into a man. This is a great miracle in and of its self. Yet at this time, a season of miracles. A time when Bible prophecies were fulfilled, it is only the forerunner of what was to come. You see this birth was the result of an ancient plan, it was a birth that would lead to the greatest miracle of all time. Thirty-three years later a perfect man would lay down His life. This act would appease a righteous and holy God. Only by this act of self-sacrifice could we be redeemed. The holy Lamb of God would die to pay for my sins. This payment is the reason for the season. For without His sinless death and payment for sin there would be no reason to remember His birth. Yes, His birth was miraculous. His life was filled with wonderful works and teachings. Yet none of these things was what the world needed. He came to give us the one thing we did not have. He came to provide for us the thing we lacked. It is only through His atoning work that we can have life. For you see the thing we lack is life. We are dead in our sins, yet we can be made alive through Christ. So, when you think of the baby born and laid in a manger. Remember that was only the beginning. At this time of the year let us remember why that baby was born. When we talk about this birth let us not forget the death, that would bring us life.
