Psalms (part 6)

Meditations in Psalms

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”

Psalms 40:1-2 NIV

Sometimes the hardest part of life is the waiting. Most of the time we find ourselves just stuck in the mud and waiting to be pulled out.

Never ever for a moment think that God does not hear you when you call. He always hears us but sometimes we must wait for Him. The waiting is not supposed to be wasted time. In fact, the waiting is time for us to be still and know that He is God. It is to be quiet time to draw nearer to our Lord. Yet, often we waste the waiting time with worry, fear and anxiety. In due season He will pull us out of the muck we have become stuck in. How sad it must be that, like a pig, we often return to the mud as soon as we can.

Instead of returning to the muck of sin and self-gratification let us stand. We are planted with our feet on the Rock. Let us rise above this world and always remain standing firmly upon the Rock of our salvation. He is our firm foundation all other ground is sinking sand(mud and mire).
