Cheer for Your Kids

Cheer for Your Kids

Oct. 23, 2020

When my kids succeed it makes me happy.  Don’t we all get excited when our kids win.  Just go to a High School football game and watch the parents cheer on their kids and celebrate. This is great that we do this but I think there is more we should be doing.

“My child, if your heart is wise, my own heart will rejoice! Everything in me will celebrate when you speak what is right.”

Proverbs 23:15-16 NLT

We should celebrate the spiritual victories of our children. When is the last time you cheered out loud when your child showed Biblical wisdom? When is the last time you jumped out of your chair and yelled at the top of your lungs because your child just won a spiritual battle? Come on people we get more excited about the mundane and temporal things of this world. Let’s be honest the worldly victories won here on earth; games won, grades, scholarships awarded or degrees earned all will be meaningless in eternity. What will last forever are the spiritual wins. So if we are going to get all excited about something should it not be something that will last? So parents when is the last time you gave your kids a spiritual pat on the back? I know for me its long over due. From now on it is my goal to tell my kids good job on that spiritual test. Nice work on the wise choice you made. Lord help me to encourage my kids based not upon worldly standards of success but upon Heavenly standards. Let me rejoice and shout out loud for the eternal victories.

The result of these texts are the basis for this blog. So in many ways what you will see, are me sharing devotionals with my family. I invite you to be a part of my family. As Christians we are one family... I love you as my family as we go through this journey of life together.
