Cure to Poverty

God has given us a land full of plenty. We have become the bread basket of the world. Yet, at the same time we still have poor people living in our land. How can this be? God told the people of Israel that, “there need be no poor people”. If they would only do one thing. “Fully obey the Lord your God.” Unfortunately, they never did realize this promise. And today in our country we still have not cured poverty. We have fought a war on poverty for decades and are no closer than the day we began. Without turning to God we will never solve the problem. Politicians can try all they want, they do not have the answer. You can vote for any promise that tickles your fancy, it will not work. Only by turning to God as a nation can we help rid our country of poverty.

On a more personnel note. How many of us struggle with poverty? I mean do you struggle financially. Do months come along where paying all the bills raises a big question? Well, I think this passage can be applied on a personnel level. If you struggle, then ask yourself. Have I FULLY obeyed the Lord? If we are careful to follow the Lord our God then I firmly believe that He will meet our every need. God is just waiting to richly bless us, the hold-up is always us.
