Believe a Lie or Bountiful Harvest

What’s going on?  I watch the news and look around at the world and it makes me wonder.  At times it looks like our country is out of control, not to mention the whole world.  I see angry people looting and rioting.  It seems to get worse as time goes by. Immoral lifestyles and pedophila are defended, justified and even normalized.  How can such things be happening?

“and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie”

2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 NIV

Here’s the truth this world is getting worse and that’s not going to stop. The wicked are trapped in their sin. They have refused to see the truth. They so desperately want to believe the lie and reject truth. So strong is this that God has given them over to the delusion. As the world gets closer to the end this delusion will only get stronger and stronger. At a certain point it will become impossible for those trapped in this delusion to escape. God has never forced Himself upon anyone. If we as humans insist on having our way in the end God will give us what we want.

So as Christians what do we do?  I think we need to use discernment.  Some of these angry people trapped in a powerful delusion have gone beyond the point of no return.  But only God knows who has reached this point.  So we must continue to share the truth in love.  Yet at the same time we must know when its time to leave people alone.  This does not mean that we stop praying for them. No, not at all but perhaps it means that after we plant the seed we need to step back and in prayer wait for the seed to grow.  We may plant and another may reap the harvest.  And unfortunately in some cases the seed may never grow.  These are the last days let us not be slack in our work for the, “harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.”
