Sept. 11. What to do?
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:5 NIV
A question I have and I’m sure many others have asked is, “What will we do in heaven?” If you have asked that question good because its a great question to ask. Indeed what will we do for eternity? God does not give us all the details but in His word we can find hints and glimpses. When Jesus is taking to the women at the well He tells her that God seeks true worship in spirit. (John 4:23) Today we live in a fallen and corrupted body. So even thou we worship it is not complete. God created us to worship Him. Not because He needs our worship but because we need to worship. If you don’t worship God you will find something to worship. In heaven we will no longer have the stain of any corruption upon us and will Love God with all that we are. (Deut. 6:5) Then we will be able to worship God in spirit and in truth. In heaven we will be filled with nothing but absolute joy and this joy will come flowing out of us. This perfect love and joy will manifest itself in praise and worship of our God and King. We will worship in spirit with out end. (Phil. 3:3) I think some of us get the wrong idea when we think of this eternal worship. We picture a church service with all the people gathered together. To be certain I’m sure we will have those kind of services and there going to be great. But remember God is everywhere. So we will praise and worship not just in a corporate setting but everywhere and at all times. As we should already be doing. We are already told to be worshiping and praising Him at all times not just when we are in church. (Psalm 113:3, 72:15, 104:2, 71:15, Eph. 1:16, Hebrews 13:15) How much more will we worship and praise God thru eternity no matter where we are or what we are doing. So the first thing we will be doing in Heaven is true continuous spiritual worship and praise. So lets get started and practice here and now. Let us live our lives with worship of our God always on our hearts.
“I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”
Psalms 104:33 NIV
